About Exercise for Life (EX4L)

Exercise for Life (EX4L) is a strength and conditioning program for individuals ages 16 and up with a physical disability. The class provides an opportunity to work on building strength, endurance and flexibility in a group setting. The class is run by an exercise specialist under the supervision of a physical therapist and is located at Gaylord Physical Therapy in Cheshire. This is an excellent opportunity for participants to learn or build upon fitness skills and become more comfortable working out in a gym setting. Modifications will be made for each individual to promote independence and success.

Program Highlights:

• 8-Week Series offered four times per year

• 1-Hour classes are held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. 

• Circuit Based Program

• High Intensity

• Various push/pull progressions

• Core training

Class Times:

  • Tuesdays 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Tuesdays 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Saturdays 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • Saturdays 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Registration:

There is no fee to attend this class. Registration is required for each series. To register, complete the online registration form. New Gaylord Sports Association members will also need to complete a member profile form.

Meet The Coach

Kimberly Hopkins, PT, DPT, is an outpatient physical therapist for Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in Cheshire, Conn. She is a certified adaptive and inclusive trainer as well as program director of the Exercise for Life Program. She received her doctorate degree in physical therapy at Springfield College. She has a passion in working with patients following complex orthopedic injuries and poly traumas as well as getting individuals back to activities following life-altering events.
